The latest in the list of granted patents is <a href=\"http:\/\/patft.uspto.gov\/netacgi\/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&amp;Sect2=HITOFF&amp;d=PALL&amp;p=1&amp;u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&amp;r=1&amp;f=G&amp;l=50&amp;s1=9352752.PN.&amp;OS=PN\/9352752&amp;RS=PN\/9352752\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Patent No. 9,352,752<\/a> tiled \u2018Engaging and disengaging for autonomous driving\u2019, which describes how a driver can switch to a self-driven mode just at the push of a button. The patented system talks about how the travelers can switch \u2018On\u2019 and \u2018Off\u2019 the self-driving features of a car. The technology works similar to \u2018Cruise Control\u2019 where the system beforehand ensures whether it is safe to switch to self-driving mode or not. Going through the patent, it discloses how after the human request, the system checks the surroundings and the car\u2019s current status to ensure it\u2019s in a position to take over the driving.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.citiusminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Auto-Pilot.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-823\" src=\"http:\/\/www.citiusminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Auto-Pilot.jpg\" alt=\"Auto-Pilot\" width=\"340\" height=\"320\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The system can track the car\u2019s location data to assess whether it\u2019s safe to switch to auto pilot mode. It may also ask the driver to change a few settings like turning on auto mode of wipers, slowing down the car to an acceptable speed etc. However, it also states that the driver can regain the controls by simply pressing on the accelerator.
